CAMBRIDGE PRIMARY PROGRAM: MARJORY STONEMAN DOUGLAS ELEMENTARY

Marjory Stoneman Douglas Elementary (MSD) is proud to offer the internationally-recognized Cambridge Program. With the Cambridge Primary Program, students receive instruction that builds confidence, responsibility, and reflection. The curriculum frameworks in English, Math, and Science promote critical thinking and collaborative teamwork. In English, students acquire skills which allow them to communicate confidently and effectively. The science curriculum helps build proficiency in investigation, evaluation, and analysis of data and scientific evidence. Mathematics instruction targets the application of essential skills to solve real- lems. There are many opportunities within Miami-Dade County Public Schools to continue the Cambridge curriculum, first at the middle school level with the Secondary 1 Program and culminating with the AICE Diploma Program at the senior high level.

Marjory Stoneman Douglas Elementary lives the mission to “bilingually foster student achievement with respect for historical, cultural, and individual diversities, with an emphasis on the preservation of our environment and an appreciation for the arts.” MSD is a BISO (bilingual) School, supporting the foundations of learning in English and Spanish. Classroom computers and several computer labs make technology accessible to all. A strings program has grown into a full orchestra, and activities such as ‘Dominoes with Dads’ and ‘Muffins with Mom’ encourage family involvement. MSD offers an After School Program providing traditional care along with dance, Aikido, and sports, and runs a popular full-time summer camp.
